Top US, South Korean and Japanese officials discussed ways to achieve complete denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula during the talks in San Francisco over the weekend. South Korea’s Presidential Office said in a statement that US National Security Adviser HR McMaster met his South Korean and Japanese counterparts and discussed denuclearisation and the upcoming inter-Korean and US-North Korean summits.
The leaders agreed to maintain close trilateral co-operation in the next several weeks and shared a view that it’s important not to repeat past mistakes. North Korean leader Kim Jong Un had, earlier, agreed to hold summit talks with South Korean President Moon Jae-in next month, while the meeting between US President Donald Trump and Mr Kim is expected to be held in May.
