Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi has said, no US combat troops will stay in the country after the end of fight against the Islamic State terror group.

In a statement in Baghdad, the Prime Minister said, the American troops will then only have an advisory role to help security forces maintain full readiness for any future security challenges.

Iraqi forces are currently fighting to retake the last remaining Mosul neighbourhoods from Islamic State militants in the city’s western half.
