In Nepal, United Democratic Madhesi Front comprising major Madhesi parties has decided to boycott local elections scheduled on May 14.

The decision was taken in a meeting held at Kathmandu today to discuss the new constitution amendment bill presented by the government on Tuesday. The meeting concluded that proposed bill is not sufficient to address their demands.

The front also decided to hold torch rallies in headquarters of the Tarai region tomorrow, with the demand to address their concerns. The parties would picket election offices in the districts on Sunday as a symbolic protest of the local elections.

Madhesi leaders are demanding more representation and re-demarcation of provincial boundaries ahead of local polls.
