In Somalia, at least 15 people were killed in a suspected suicide car bomb attack targeting the country’s new military chief in the capital, Mogadishu. Police said the General Mohamed Ahmed Jimale, new military chief, has survived the targeted attack.
Police said a number of soldiers are among the dead and the death toll could rise as a minibus carrying passengers was also destroyed in the blast. Somalia’s Islamic extremist rebels, al-Shabab, claimed responsibility for the attack.
