Stockport Magistrates Court has sentenced two-year driving ban and 100 hours unpaid work to the Everton star-Wayne Rooney after he was found guilty of drink driving.
As per information received, the 31-year-old football star Rooney was just one pint away from potentially being jailed as he drove party girl Laura Simpson’s VW Beetle after a boozy night out.
After pleaded guilty by Stockport Magistrates Court, Rooney has issued an apology statement.
My statement of apology
Following today’s court hearing I want publicly to apologise for my unforgiveable lack of judgement in driving while over the legal limit. It was completely wrong.
I have already said sorry to my family, my manager and chairman and everyone at Everton FC. Now I want to apologise to all the fans and everyone else who has followed and supported me throughout my career.
Of course I accept the sentence of the court and hope that I can make some amends through my community service.
