
Iraqi authorities will imminently announce a final victory in the battle to recapture Mosul from the Islamic State (IS) terrorists. US Brigadier General Robert Sofge told a news agency, that an announcement is imminent. IS terrorists defences in Mosul are collapsing fast and the Iraqi security forces are expected to take full control soon.
According to information received, only a few metres remain to be taken. Some troops have been seen celebrating on streets even though commanders have not confirmed the news. Iraqi forces, backed by US-led air strikes, have tried to retake the key city since 17th of October last year.
Thousands of Iraqi security forces, Kurdish Peshmerga fighters, Sunni Arab tribesmen and Shia militiamen, supported by US-led coalition warplanes and military advisers, have been involved in the battle to retake Mosul.
