Tens of thousands of people gathered today in the Japanese city of Hiroshima to reflect on a tragedy that changed the course of history. They were marking the 72nd anniversary since the US detonated an atomic bomb over the city on 6th August, 1945.
People observed a moment of silence at 8:15 AM, the exact time the bomb hit the city. Hiroshima Mayor Kazumi Matsui on this occasion delivered a declaration of peace and urged for complete elimination of nuclear weapons.
