Gabon’s government steps down after election delays

Gabon’s government has resigned after the constitutional court dissolved the national Parliament and called for the country’s leadership to step down over election delays. According to a government statement, Prime Minister Emmanuel Issozet Ngondet has submitted the resignation letter of his government. The court said, the powers of the disbanded National Assembly will be transferred to the upper house Senate until elections are held. A date for the election is yet to be announced.
