President Donald Trump has hailed the US military for dropping the largest non-nuclear bomb targeting an Islamic State complex in Afghanistan. Mr. Trump said the military has been successful lately because his administration has given them total authorisation. Pentagon spokesman Adam Stump said, it was the first-ever combat use of the bomb.
At his daily news conference, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer said the United States takes the fight against ISIS very seriously and in order to defeat the group, they must be denied operational space. He said all precautions were taken to prevent civilian casualties and collateral damage as a result of the operation.
