Bangladesh PM to arrive in India tomorrow on 4-day visit

Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina is arriving on a four-day visit to India tomorrow. Briefing media about the visit, Joint Secretary (Bangladesh-Myanmar), in the External Affairs Ministry Sripriya Ranganathan said over 20 pacts will be inked during the visit of Prime Minister Hasina. Two agreements are expected to be signed in the area of defence.

According to External Affairs Ministry sources, India is also expected to extend Line of Credit of 500 million dollars to Bangladesh for defence purchases.

Replying to a query on Teesta water sharing deal, Ms. Ranganathan said work is in progress in this direction. However, according to sources, no forward movement is expected on Teesta River accord as of now.

Ms. Ranganathan said, Prime Minister Hasina will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday at Hyderabad House. The two leaders will also hold delegation level talks. During her stay in Delhi, the visiting dignitary will call on President Pranab Mukherjee and Vice President Mohammed Hamid Ansari.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will be staying at President House as a Special Guest during stay.
