Russia has warned the US-led coalition fighting in Syria that it will view its aircraft as targets, after the US shot down a Syrian military plane on Sunday.
Russia’s Defence Ministry said in Moscow yesterday that it would view as targets any flying objects over Syria in the areas of the country where its air forces operate.
The statement followed after a US warplane shot down a Syrian army jet on Sunday in the southern Raqqa countryside.
Washington has said the jet had dropped bombs near US-backed forces on the other hand Damascus said the plane was downed while flying a mission against Islamic State militants.
The Defence Ministry also said that it was suspending its interaction with the United States on preventing air incidents over Syria .
