802 nominations filed for first phase of Nepal parliamentary & assembly polls

In Nepal, a total of 802 candidates have filed nominations for the first phase of Parliamentary and Assembly elections.

The Election Commission said, 320 candidates submitted their papers for 37 constituencies of House of Representatives and 482 candidates filed nominations for 74 State Assembly constituencies.

The candidates can withdraw their names till Wednesday. Polling for the first phase will be held in 32 districts on the 26th of next month.

Nominations in remaining 45 districts will be filed on 2nd November and voting for second and final round will take place on December 7th. As per the new constitution, it is necessary to complete local, province and Parliamentary elections by January 21st next year.
