The Nepal Parliament meeting to elect the new Prime Minister has been adjourned till 3 PM. The meeting scheduled at 11 AM could not take place as main opposition CPN (UML) obstructed the house proceedings. Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba is the only candidate for premiership. Outgoing Prime Minister and Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Centre) Chief Pushpa Kamal Dahal proposed Mr Deuba’s name.

Nepali Congress senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel and Nepal Loktantrik Forum President Bijaya Kumar Gachhadar supported his nomination. Deuba is likely to be elected prime minister as ruling coalition is having majority in the house. Pushpa Kamal Dahal had resigned from the Prime Minister’s post last month as per the power sharing understanding with the coalition partner Nepali Congress.
