In the United States, at least 13 people have been killed by tornadoes and flooding in the South and Midwest by a storm. Tornadoes hit several small towns in Texas, killing 4 people and wounding dozens in the state. Heavy rain caused flooding in the states of Arkansas, Mississippi and Missouri,Tennessee killing 9 people.
The storms rolled through Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama yesterday with strong winds causing isolated pockets of damage. Tennessee was hit by a strong line of storms that knocked down trees and power lines.
Canton Mayor Lou Ann Everett said, the storms cut a path of destruction 56 kilometers long and 24 kilometers wide in Van Zandt County. The National Weather Service said they found evidence of four tornadoes with one twister possibly on the ground for 80 kilometers per hour.
