
As many as 37 civilians were killed and several other injured in Mali’s village Koulogon after dispute reportedly erupted over access to land and water.
According to information received, armed man reportedly belonging to Dogon hunters stormed into a village of Fulani herders. The violence was fueled by dispute over access to land and water. The government said that the attackers, who were dressed as tradition Dogon hunters raided the Koulogon village in the Mopti region of the country.
Violence between Fulani, one of the largest ethnic groups in West Africa and rival communities has worsened the security situation in Mali’s desert regions, which are used as a base by the jihadist groups.
