10 militants holed up in two suspected hideouts

Bangladesh Home Minister Asaduzzaman Kamal Khan has said as many as 10 suspected militants may be holed in the 2 suspected hideouts under siege in Moulvibazar district.

Speaking to reporters Kamal Khan said SWAT (Special Weapons & Tactics) as well as bomb disposal units are on their way and army may be called in if required.

Security forces cordoned off the 2 suspected hideouts this morning within hours of ending ‘Operation Twilight’ in neighbouring Sylhet district in which 4 militants including a woman were killed.

The Home Minister said security forces have undertaken the anti-militant operation based on intelligence inputs.

Moulvibazar is the hometown and strong-hold of Neo-JMB militant leader sacked Major Ziaur Haq over whose head the police have placed a bounty of 20 lakh takas.
