India’s Democratic Traditions Have Been an Inspiration for the Whole World: Speaker Dr. Raman Singh

Raipur, August 24
Speaker of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly, Dr. Raman Singh, stated that India’s democratic traditions have served as an inspiration for the entire world. India has embraced the spirit of democracy since ancient times. He emphasized that legislative assemblies play a vital role in strengthening democracy. It is through this platform that the aspirations of the people are translated into governance policies. Dr. Singh was addressing the All India Speakers Conference in New Delhi today on the topic “India: The Cradle of Democracy.”
While addressing the All India Speakers Conference, Dr. Singh said that in a democracy, Panchayats (village councils) function as living institutions. Through collective decision-making in Panchayats, disputes were traditionally resolved through discussion. This tradition of Panchayati Raj remains the backbone of democracy even today. He further stated that the Constituent Assembly formed in 1946 is an exemplary model of democracy.
It is noteworthy that this conference is being held as part of the centenary celebrations of Veer Vitthalbhai Patel, the first elected Indian Speaker. The two-day conference was inaugurated today in Delhi by the Union Home Minister, Mr. Amit Shah. The conference will focus on strengthening India’s democratic framework. Speakers and presiding officers from legislative assemblies of several Indian states are participating in the event.
