Historic initiative of Chhattisgarh government for welfare of police personnel: Agreement signed with 8 banks for salary package

Will create a strong foundation for the economic and social security of police personnel – Chief Minister Sai

In a major step towards providing economic and social security to the officers and employees of the Chhattisgarh Police Department, the state government has signed an agreement (MoU) with 8 major banks under the police salary package on the initiative of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai. The banks involved in this agreement include State Bank of India, Punjab National Bank, Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, and IDBI Bank.
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai described this initiative as a strong foundation of security and cooperation for police personnel. He said that this agreement reflects the state government’s commitment to the police department’s employees. He said that this agreement will not only empower police personnel financially but will also meet the needs of their families. This initiative will further strengthen the Chhattisgarh government’s policy of good governance and transparency and bring about a positive change in the efficiency and morale of police personnel.
Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma described this initiative as a historic step towards the welfare of the police department. He said that police personnel have been given the freedom to open a salary account in any bank of their choice and convenience. There will be no compulsion or additional charges for this. Proposals received from all banks will be sent to the police units so that police personnel can select the most suitable bank according to their needs. This agreement will provide many benefits to police personnel and their families. It includes a life insurance amount of Rs 1 lakh to Rs 10 lakh in case of natural death, assistance of Rs 10 lakh to Rs 1 crore in case of accidental death, insurance amount of Rs 30 lakh to Rs 1 crore in case of permanent disability and Rs 22.5 lakh to Rs 1 crore for partial disability. Financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh to Rs 20 lakh will be available for higher education of children and Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh for girls’ marriage. An assistance amount of Rs 10 lakh to Rs 50 lakh will be provided to the families of police personnel martyred in Naxal violence.
