
In Karnataka, around 45,000 private hospitals across the state have called for one day strike today against State Government’s proposed Karnataka Medical Services Bill. The Bill proposes to set up Grievance redressal cell in every district, allow the Government to fix charges of treatment in private hospitals, imprison Doctors for upto five years for death of patients due to erroneous treatment and compensate patients for faulty treatments.
Dr.B Veeranna, state Secretary of Indian Medical Association says that the strike is called demanding that Government doctors should also be brought under the ambit of the proposed law, allow private hospitals to fix treatment charges and put a cap on compensation to be paid to the patients.
