
A liver harvested from an organ donor in Chandigarh was successfully transplanted to a 21- year-old patient at AIIMS Delhi after a green corridor was created in the national capital, traversing through some its busiest streets.
According to DCP, Traffic Southern Range, the vehicle carrying the liver departed for AIIMS and covered a distance of 18.5 kms in just 23.10 minutes.
The vehicle passed through not only have a high volume of traffic, but are also used for movement of VVIPs to and from IGI Airport throughout the day.
Keeping in view the critical nature of the assignment, traffic police swiftly swung into action and alerted all the personnel en route from IGI Airport to AIIMS to facilitate the job.
