Raipur, July 24

On the auspicious occasion of Hareli, the first festival in Chhattisgarh’s traditional calendar, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai performed the ceremonial worship of Gauri-Ganesh and the Navgrahas, followed by a sacred Abhishek (ritual bath) of Lord Shiva at his official residence in the state capital.

For the first time, Bhilai-based graduate Dhanishtha Sharma, along with her elder brother Divya Sharma, recited mantras during the Abhishek of Lord Shiva. Their spiritual presence and chanting impressed not only the Chief Minister and his family but also the distinguished guests present at the event.

The Hareli puja ceremony was graced by prominent leaders including Speaker of the Assembly Dr. Raman Singh, Deputy CM Vijay Sharma, Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal, Agriculture Minister Ram Vichar Netam, Women and Child Development Minister Lakshmi Rajwade, and Revenue Minister Tank Ram Verma.

CM Sai also performed the traditional worship of agricultural tools such as the plough, sickle, spade, and other implements, officially marking the beginning of the Hareli festivities. On the occasion, he wished for happiness, prosperity, and abundance for all citizens of Chhattisgarh, especially the farming community.

Sending a symbolic message of livestock protection, CM Sai fed a cow and calf with the traditional Londi (a mixture of wheat flour, salt, and castor leaves) and green fodder. He extended warm wishes to all citizens for the festival of Hareli, calling it not just a celebration of farmers, but a tribute to the bond shared with nature, the environment, and domestic animals.

The Chief Minister emphasized that in Chhattisgarh’s culture, animals are treated as integral members of the family. He noted that the Hareli festival inspires a sense of gratitude towards livestock and encourages a collective pledge for their well-being and preservation. He further appealed to people to stay connected with their traditions and to prioritize the care and protection of their animals.

The celebrations at the CM’s residence offered a vivid portrayal of Chhattisgarh’s rural ethos, blending traditional rituals, a culturally rich setting, and a deep-rooted reverence for nature and agriculture.
