Government is sensitive to the needs and demands of employees: Deputy CM Sao

Deputy Chief Minister and Urban Administration and Development Minister Shri Arun Sao attended the Chhattisgarh Urban Local Bodies Officers-Employees Convention held today at the late Balbir Singh Juneja Indoor Stadium in Raipur. This was the first state-level convention organized by various officers and employees’ unions of urban local bodies.

The Deputy Chief Minister also inaugurated an EV fast charging station at the event. Raipur MP Shri Brijmohan Agrawal and MLAs Shri Sunil Soni and Shri Purandar Mishra were also present at the convention.

Addressing the Chhattisgarh Urban Local Bodies Officers-Employees Convention as the chief guest, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Sao said that after getting the responsibility of the Urban Administration and Development Department, the welfare of the employees working in urban local bodies has been my priority from the very first day. In the last one year, active work has been done on the subject of compassionate appointment and promotion. The department has approved 353 new posts, considering the pending cases of compassionate appointment with sensitivity.

Sao said that he has directed all urban local bodies to complete the process of compassionate appointment on these approved new posts by January 10. The promotion process in the department is also going on continuously. After the promotion of engineers, 36 employees have now been promoted to the post of CMO. The process is also underway for other posts. We are also working to revise the setup of all the bodies.

In the convention, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Sao said that the government is sensitive to the needs and demands of the employees. In the last one year, Rs. 373 crore has been released to urban local bodies for the payment of salaries. I am coming here today after signing a file to release Rs. 51 crore 77 lakh for the payment of pending salaries. We are also discussing with the Finance Department regarding OPS and arrears of the sixth and seventh pay commissions.

He informed that to improve the functioning of urban local bodies, the department is taking the initiative to strengthen their structure along with the reclassification of the bodies.

Sao said that the Chhattisgarh government is with the officers and employees in all their joys and sorrows. He is ready to resolve all their problems.

Addressing the officers and employees, Shri Sao said that the employees of the urban local body are connected to the life of every person in the city. You have a great responsibility to beautify the cities. If you consider the city and the city dwellers as your family, then there will be a better connection with the work.

He expressed hope that you will go from this convention with the resolve to strengthen and consolidate your bodies. You will work with new enthusiasm and energy to reach the government’s schemes to the people.

MP Shri Brijmohan Agrawal, addressing the convention, said that we are constantly connected with the officers and employees of the bodies. We are well aware of their problems. The government is giving priority to the work related to your happiness and sorrow. He suggested training from time to time to increase the efficiency and capacity building of the employees of the body.

MLA Shri Sunil Soni said in the convention that I have had the opportunity to work with Raipur Corporation for 12-13 years. The officers and employees of the bodies have an important role in making the city clean, beautiful, and convenient. It is the responsibility of this staff to do the priority works of the local government on time. We all have to work together to ensure that citizens get all facilities on time. This is also good governance. Sharma, President of Chhattisgarh Urban Local Bodies Officers-Employees Association Shri Rajesh Soni, Convener Shri Sanjay Sharma, State Spokesperson Shri Vikas Mishra, and many office bearers and members of the association were also present at the convention.
