Gate of Khudiya Reservoir Opened on Deputy CM Arun Sao’s Instructions, Several Villages to Receive Relief

Following the demands of the people from several villages in the Lorami area, the gate of the Rajeev Gandhi Reservoir located in Khudiya village has been opened under the instructions of Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Sao. Acting promptly on the Deputy Chief Minister’s directions, the local administration has released water from the reservoir. This will provide water for domestic use to several villages in the region.

Executive Engineer of the Water Resources Department, Shri R.K. Mishra, informed that the Khudiya Reservoir is currently filled to 65% capacity. Following the instructions of Deputy Chief Minister Shri Sao, 200 cusecs of water have been released from the reservoir through canals and rivers, which will fill the ponds and anicuts on the Maniyari River in the region. This will ensure water availability for the villagers’ domestic needs, and also provide relief for livestock and other activities.

After the gate of the Khudiya Reservoir was opened, the people of the Lorami area expressed their gratitude to Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Sao and the local administration. It is noteworthy that people from several villages in the Lorami development block had met Deputy Chief Minister Shri Sao on March 19 in Bilaspur and requested the release of water from the Khudiya Reservoir. Shri Sao had instructed the Collector of Mungeli to take prompt action, after which the water resources department officials opened the gate and released water from the reservoir.
