The 50-year-old filmmaker Nishikant Kamat died in a Hyderabad-based hospital. Kamat was suffering from chronic liver disease.
As the news of Kamat’s death spread, the social media platforms flooded with condolence messages.
“My equation with Nishikant was not just about Drishyam, a film which he directed with Tabu and me. It was an association that I cherished. He was bright; ever-smiling. He has gone too soon. RIP Nishikant,” tweeted actor Ajay Devgn.
“A sad day, loss of a Vocalist par excellence, a true culture icon #PanditJasraj Ji & a super talented friend, Actor, Director #NishikantKamat is gone too soon. #RestInPeace,” tweeted actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
“Really sad to hear about the passing of #NishikantKamat sir. Another loss to the Indian film industry. May God give strength to his family during this difficult time,” tweeted actor Sidhartha Malhotra.
