
Megastar Amitabh Bachchan today inaugurated the new office premises of Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) in Mumbai today in the presence of Secretary, Information and Broadcasting Ajay Mittal, and Chairperson of CBFC Pahlaj Nihalani.
Speaking on the occasion, I&B Secretary, Ajay Mittal said the Ministry has initiated a series of measures to promote ease of doing business and reiterated government’s commitment to work closely with the film industry. Film Producer Ramesh Sippy welcomed the online film certification system saying it would facilitate quicker certification of films.
The CBFC has been functioning from Bharat Bhavan at Malabar Hills since 1950s was facing severe space constraint. Following which the CBFC moved a proposal for allocation of space in the Films Division complex for a modern digitally enabled office.
It may be recalled that the online film certification system of CBFC was launched by the Minister for Information & Broadcasting, Shri Venkaiah Naidu in New Delhi last week. The new office houses the chambers of chairman, CEO as well as Mumbai Regional Office of CBFC, its own preview facilites, office of Films Division, Children’s Film Society of India and the upcoming National Museum of Indian Cinema.
