20th International Children’s Film Festival of India begins today

The 20th International Children’s Film Festival of India (ICFFI) will kick start in Hyderabad this evening with New India- as the main theme this time. Children’s Film Society, India (CFSI) and Telangana State Government are jointly organising the biennial children’s event.

317 films from over hundred countries will be screened in about 40 theatres in Hyderabad and also at the district head quarters across the state. Of them, over hundred films will be screened in competition sections.

CFSI Chief Executive Officer Shravan Kumar told media in Hyderabad last evening that a record number of 1402 entries have been received from 109 countries from all over the world. He further said 179 entries have come from 31 countries for the Little Directors category. He said some of the popular international award-winning children’s films are also brought for the festival this time.

They include – Sweeden film ‘SIV Sleeps Astray’ Russian film Pitch’, Netherlands film ‘Sky’, film from Germany Nelly’s Adventure, Canada film ‘Anthems: A Journey Around The World’, film from Egypt-Wintry Spring. Our correspondent says a series of workshops and open forum discussions on various aspects related to film making and storytelling will be organised during the festival making Hyderabad a hub of film making activities for children.
