Raipur, November 19
Paddy procurement at the Minimum Support Price is progressing in Balod district with notable ease and transparency. In village Nipani, elderly farmer Shri Kolhu Ram Sahu heaped praises on the paddy procurement system, noting that nearly 80 quintals of his paddy were sold without difficulty.
He shared that he had completed harvesting and threshing well before the procurement season opened. With support from his grandson, he obtained an online token a day prior to the sale through the “Token Tuhar” mobile app. The ability to generate one from home has proved especially helpful for farmers like him.
Shri Sahu received his token for November 17 and arrived at the procurement centre as soon as it opened. His paddy was weighed on time, with adequate gunny bags provided at the spot. He observed that the centre had sufficient staff to handle filling, weighing, stitching and stacking, allowing his sale to be completed promptly. The arrangements, he said, ensured that his produce was accepted smoothly and on schedule, leaving him fully satisfied.
He added that facilities such as seating, drinking water and toilets at the procurement centre made the process far more comfortable for farmers. Appreciating the farmer-friendly policies of the government, Shri Sahu said the MSP of ₹3,100 per quintal and the decision to procure 21 quintals per acre have made farming significantly more viable. Conveying his gratitude, he thanked Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai for the effective implementation of farmer welfare measures and expressed his appreciation to the district administration for its efficient management.
