HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar has said sky-touching grades should be replaced with genuine scores and the state education boards should not keep inflating marks in competition.

Talking to reporters, on the sidelines of an event in New Delhi yesterday, he said school boards should not be in a race to increase marks.

Mr Javadekar said it is up to various state boards to take a final call on awarding grace marks to students in exams for difficult questions.

In a major decision, the Central Board of Secondary Education on Monday had scrapped the marks moderation policy.
