Double Engine Government Succeeding in Establishing Peace in Bastar: Chief Minister

Raipur, May 18
People in the Jagargunda area of Sukma district, Chhattisgarh, long affected by the Naxal problem, will now also get banking facilities. Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai today virtually inaugurated the Indian Overseas Bank branch in Jagargunda, Sukma, from the Chief Minister’s residence. This bank branch will benefit approximately 14,000 villagers from 12 surrounding villages.
Chief Minister Shri Sai, addressing the inauguration program via video conference, stated that “Today is a historic day for the people of this region. This area has been affected by Naxalism for a long time. In the last one and a half years, our double engine government has succeeded in establishing peace in the Bastar region. This is why a new bank branch has opened here today. The benefits of schemes are reaching the people.”
On this occasion, Chief Minister Shri Sai said that “With the state government’s strategy of security, development, and trust, continuous operations by security forces, and the strong resolve of the central and state governments, the villages of the Bastar region are rapidly overcoming the Naxal problem and joining the mainstream of development.”
Chief Minister Shri Sai said that “Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s guarantee includes providing banking facilities in all Gram Panchayats. Acting on this, 1460 Atal Panchayat Digital Seva Kendras were launched on April 24, National Panchayat Day, in 10 Gram Panchayats of each development block, where villagers have started getting banking facilities.” He added that “This facility will be extended to all Gram Panchayats within one year.” The Chief Minister also gave detailed information about the Good Governance Festival to the villagers. Shri Sai said that during the Good Governance Festival, he himself visited digital service centers and reviewed the arrangements. Villagers are availing banking facilities there.
Finance Minister Shri O.P. Chaudhary said that “When he was Collector in Dantewada, this area was severely Naxal-affected. One had to think before going into the interior. In 2001, there was a rural bank branch in this building, which Naxals tried to loot. Today, an Indian Overseas Bank branch is opening in the same building. From here, villagers will receive payments for Tendu leaf bonus, Kisan Samman Nidhi, and many other schemes right in their village.”
Finance Minister Shri Chaudhary inspected the cash counter and branch manager’s office in the bank premises and also opened his own account in the bank. Along with him, Ms. Deepika Sori, a member of the Women’s Commission, also opened her account in the bank. It is noteworthy that along with the bank, ATM facility has also been made available for the villagers.
