Double Engine Government is Dedicatedly Transforming the State: Shivraj Singh Chouhan

Union Minister of Agriculture, Panchayat and Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan, stated that the double engine government, comprising Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Center and Shri Vishnu Deo Sai in the state, is working with full dedication to transform the face and destiny of Chhattisgarh.

He was addressing the ‘Mor Awas Mor Adhikar’ (My House, My Right) program held in Nagpura, Durg district. On this occasion, he honored the beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana by washing their feet. Union Minister Shri Chouhan also announced 3,03,384 new houses for Chhattisgarh under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.

Union Minister Shri Chouhan said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised houses for the poor, which is being fulfilled today. He informed that under this historic endeavor of providing pucca houses to the poor across the country, 8,47,000 houses have already been approved in Chhattisgarh.

He said that the central government has set new eligibility criteria to make this scheme more inclusive, which now includes increasing the maximum income limit to Rs 15,000. Additionally, those who have 2.5 acres of irrigated land or 5 acres of unirrigated land will also be eligible under this scheme. Beneficiaries can now apply and survey for their houses themselves.

Union Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, remarkable work is being done to promote agriculture. Emphasis is being laid on increasing crop production, reducing the cost of farming, and diversifying crops. New varieties of paddy are also being released.

He said that women are being empowered under the Lakhpati Didi scheme, which is breathing new life into the rural economy.

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, in his address, said that our respected Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana to provide housing to millions of homeless families. A government of good governance has come to power in Chhattisgarh. A double-engine government has been formed. On the very next day of taking the oath, we held a cabinet meeting and approved 18 lakh houses. Today, this decision has brought satisfaction to the faces of millions of beneficiaries in Chhattisgarh. The house they had dreamed of is now being fulfilled.

Chief Minister Shri Sai said that we have completed one year of our government and have also presented a one-year report card to the public. Our test time began immediately after taking the oath, and we fulfilled the first promise in the cabinet meeting. This assured us, and within a year, we have fulfilled all the major promises of Modi ji’s guarantee. Within two weeks of taking the oath, we transferred the bonus amount of 2 years of paddy to 13 lakh farmer brothers on the occasion of the birth anniversary of revered Atal Ji as Good Governance Day. We also purchased paddy at the promised rate of Rs 3100 per quintal and 21 quintals per acre. Last time, we procured a record 145 lakh metric tonnes of paddy. Last time, we transferred a total amount of Rs 49 crore to the farmers’ accounts. This has been recorded as a record in the agricultural history of Chhattisgarh.

The Chief Minister said that we are constantly monitoring to ensure that work on PM houses can be done rapidly. GIS mapping and accurate planning are being done through the home portal. We have entrusted the responsibility of supplying construction material for PM Awas to self-help groups under the Lakhpati Didi program. This is also helping in women empowerment, and in this work, Awas Mitras are effectively helping the beneficiaries, due to which the construction of houses is being completed on time. We have made arrangements for discount coupons to provide construction material to beneficiaries at a lower cost. A toll-free number has also been set up for the speedy resolution of complaints.

He said that a decision has been taken to build 15,000 houses for surrendered Maoists and Naxal-affected families. The implementation of the PM Janman Yojana, brought for the development of special backward tribes, is also progressing rapidly in the state.

The Chief Minister expressed special gratitude to Union Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who demonstrated his sensitivity towards the homeless people of the state by approving 8,47,000 new houses for Chhattisgarh.

Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh said on this occasion that 18 lakh houses have been approved in Chhattisgarh to fulfill the guarantee of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He said that unprecedented progress has been made in housing and road construction in the state due to the coordination between the central and state governments.

Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma said that all eligible beneficiaries in the state are being benefited under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Under the PM Janman Yojana, 32,000 houses have been approved and every village in the state is being connected with paved roads.

He said that rural connectivity is being strengthened in Chhattisgarh under 2449 kilometer long road projects.

On this occasion, materials were distributed to rural mason trainees. Gram panchayats, janpad panchayats, and voluntary organizations that did excellent work were honored. Incentive money and sanitation kits were distributed to individual toilet construction beneficiaries. Drone didis and Lakhpati didis were awarded certificates of appreciation for their work. Ownership documents were distributed to beneficiaries under the Swamitva scheme.

On this occasion, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Sao, Forest Minister Shri Kedarnath Kashyap, Agriculture Minister Shri Ramvichar Netam, Food Minister Shri Dayal Das Baghel, MLAs Shri Kiran Dev Singh, Lalit Chandrakar, Gajendra Yadav, Domnalal Korsevada, Rakesh Sen, Ishwar Sahu, and Smt. Bhawna Bohra, along with many other public representatives and a large number of villagers were present.
