Deputy CM Sharma meets brave security personnel

Raipur, March 22

Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma today reached Bijapur and met the brave security personnel at the Bijapur District Police Headquarters, who were involved in the encounter with Maoists in the forests of Andri under the Gangloor area. He appreciated their courageous and successful operations and boosted their morale.

Deputy Chief Minister Shri Sharma said, “It is because of the strength of the security forces that today I have been able to travel to Bijapur by road. No Home Minister has ever traveled to Bijapur by road before.” It is noteworthy that in the encounter on March 20, 26 Maoists, including 14 female Maoists, were killed. The identified Maoists included DVCM, ACM, PPCM, and PLGA members. From the encounter site, a large quantity of weapons, including AK-47s, SLRs, INSAS rifles, 303 rifles, rocket launchers, BGL launchers, explosives, medicines, Maoist uniforms, literature, and other daily-use materials were recovered.

The security forces, including DRG, STF, Bastar Fighters, Cobra, CRPF, BSF, ITBP, CAF, and other forces deployed in the Bastar region, have worked with strong morale and clear objectives to ensure peace, security, and development in the region. As a result of anti-Maoist operations against the banned and unlawful CPI Maoist organization in 2025, 97 hardcore Maoists’ bodies have been recovered in the last 80 days. In Bijapur district alone, 82 Maoists’ bodies were recovered during this period.

Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma congratulated all the soldiers and said, “I have brought a message of good wishes from Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai for all the soldiers. Your extraordinary valor and bravery will bring peace and harmony back to Bastar. With this campaign, you have changed the perspective of the country and the world. In this fierce encounter, one of our brave soldiers has been martyred, and I pay my tribute to him. Bastar has always been an island of peace, but some misguided individuals disrupted that peace. Our security forces and police will wipe out such elements. This has been the biggest operation in Chhattisgarh. He also said that the positive results of the Chhattisgarh government’s rehabilitation policy are evident.”

On this occasion, Bastar IG Sundarraj P, DIG Kamlochan Kashyap, Collector, SP, and other police officials and staff were present.
