Deputy CM Sharma Inaugurates Bastar Olympics 2025 in the Remote Forest Village of Kachchapal

The ‘Bastar Olympics 2025’ is being organized by the Government of Chhattisgarh with the objective of promoting traditional sports, recognizing the sports talent of the youth in the tribal-dominated and Naxal-affected areas of the Bastar division, and connecting them to the mainstream. It was inaugurated today by Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma in the remote forest village of Kachchapal in Narayanpur district.
On this occasion, a Tug-of-War competition was held between the rural women of Irakbhatti and Kachchapal, in which the women of Irakbhatti emerged victorious. The Deputy Chief Minister met the players and boosted everyone’s morale. Seeing the enthusiasm among the players, he distributed Bastar Olympics 2025 T-shirts to all. This competition will be held in three phases: Block level, District level, and Divisional level. More than 3 lakh 80 thousand participants are taking part in the Bastar Olympics 2025 across the Bastar division, including over 47 thousand participants from Narayanpur.
Addressing the villagers at the event, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Sharma said that the Bastar Olympics is not just a sport; it is also a symbol of harmony, brotherhood, trust, and unity in Bastar. This Olympics serves as a platform for the youth of Bastar to showcase their natural talent, instill self-confidence, and foster their sporting abilities. We are fully confident that this Olympics will yield players of international standard for the state, who will bring glory to Bastar not only within the state but across the world.
Present on the occasion were District Panchayat President Shri Narayan Markam, Vice President Shri Pratap Singh Mandavi, ADG Shri Vivekanand Sinha, Commissioner Shri Doman Singh, IG Shri Sundarraj P, Collector Pratishtha Mamgain, SP Shri Robinson Gudia, SDM Orchha Dr. Sumit Garg, Janpad Vice President Orchha Shri Mangduram Nureti, Sarpanch Kachchapal Smt. Rajma Nureti, Janpad members, public representatives, and a large number of villagers.
It is noteworthy that the Bastar Olympics will be held from October 25 to November 30 at the Block, District, and Divisional levels. Sports competitions like Athletics, Archery, Badminton, Football, Karate, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Volleyball, Tug-of-War, Hockey, and Weightlifting will be organized. Divyang (disabled) players and surrendered Naxalites will also participate directly in the Divisional level competitions, along with the Junior category (14 to 17 years) and Senior category (above 17 years).
