Deputy CM Sao Lays Foundation Stone for Three Major Flyovers Worth Over ₹117 Crore
Raipur, 29 September
Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Public Works Shri Arun Sao today laid the foundation stone for three major flyovers to be constructed at Ring Road No. 2 in the capital city, Raipur — specifically at Hirapur Chowk (Ganpat Chowk), Jarway, and Sarora Chowk — with a total estimated cost exceeding ₹117 crore.
While addressing the foundation ceremony, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Sao extended greetings and best wishes to the people of the state on the occasion of Navratri and Vijayadashami. He said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, the state government is celebrating the “Atal Nirman Varsh” (Atal Construction Year). With the commitment “We built, and we shall now transform,” the government is continually implementing welfare schemes for the people and working to enhance the capital city, Raipur.
He further stated that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has taken a historic step towards making India a developed nation by implementing GST reforms. This is the first scheme that benefits all 1.4 billion Indians by providing savings on every product — from small items like soap and biscuits to big purchases like cars and computers. The GST Savings Festival began on the first day of Navratri and will directly benefit the public. This marks a significant step toward India’s development.
Member of Parliament Shri Brijmohan Agrawal, while addressing the gathering, said that the Vishnu Deo Sai government is committed to providing basic amenities, including education, to the people of the state. He emphasized that efforts are ongoing to develop Raipur in accordance with its status as the state capital.
MLA Shri Rajesh Munat remarked that Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai leads a government that genuinely cares for poor families. All projects launched for the benefit of the capital’s residents will be completed within the stipulated timelines. The construction of these flyovers will significantly ease traffic congestion.
The program was also addressed by MLA Shri Motilal Sahu and Mayor Smt. Meenal Chaubey. In attendance were MLAs Shri Sunil Soni and Purandar Mishra, Municipal Corporation Chairman Shri Suryakant Rathore, Ward Councillor Smt. Ramhin Kurre, several ward councillors, Shri Ramesh Singh Thakur (Municipal Commissioner), local public representatives, department officials, and a large number of citizens.
It is noteworthy that the Public Works Department (PWD) will construct three flyovers on Ring Road No. 2 in Raipur:
Jarway Road (near Bengali Hotel) – ₹23.89 crore
Hirapur Chowk – ₹49.40 crore
Sarora Chowk (near Reliance Petrol Pump) – ₹43.76 crore
Once completed, these overpasses will significantly improve the traffic flow across these intersections, benefiting over 2 lakh residents in areas such as Hirapur, Atari, Jarway, Tendua, Guma, Kota, Mohba Bazar, and other localities between Tatibandh and Bhanpuri. The project aims to provide smooth, organized, and obstruction-free transportation throughout the urban region.
