Dairy Entrepreneurship Development Scheme Transforms Sukhsagar’s Life

Raipur, 25 August
In line with the vision of Chief Minister Mr. Vishnudev Sai, the Livestock Development Department is extending the benefits of government schemes to livestock farmers in rural areas. As a result, the economic condition of Mr. Sukhsagar Yadav, a farmer from Bagicha block in Jashpur district, has significantly improved. He is now earning up to ₹30,000 per month.
Sukhsagar Yadav received a grant of ₹70,000 under the state-sponsored Dairy Entrepreneurship Development Scheme. With this support, he purchased one high-breed Jersey cow and one Sahiwal crossbreed cow. Previously, he only had a local breed cow that produced about 1 liter of milk per day, which was used solely for household needs and did not generate any income.
However, after benefiting from the scheme, his milk production has increased to 16 to 18 liters per day. By selling this milk, he is now earning between ₹25,000 and ₹30,000 monthly. He has also benefited from the National Artificial Insemination Programme, resulting in the birth of high-breed calves — both heifers and bulls.
The Livestock Development Department regularly monitors the health of his cows, provides deworming medicines, mineral mixtures, and insurance coverage. Technical guidance is also offered from time to time.
Thanks to this scheme, Sukhsagar’s financial condition has strengthened, and he is now recognized as a successful dairy entrepreneur.
