Cycle Rally Organized on National Sports Day Participation of School Students and Over 300 Athletes

Raipur, 31 August
On the occasion of National Sports Day, a cycle rally was organized today in Bilaspur, with participation from school students and over 300 athletes. The rally was held under the Government of India’s Fit India initiative “Sundays on Cycle” and started from PM Shri Swami Atmanand School, Nutan Chowk, Sarkanda, concluding at the Late B.R. Yadav State Sports Training Center, Bahatarai.
Former Olympian and Head Coach of the Indian Hockey Team Mr. Ajit Emmanuel Lakra and international kabaddi player Sanju Devi flagged off the rally.
The Government of India is organizing a nationwide celebration of National Sports Day from August 29 to August 31, to:
Celebrate the country’s rich sports heritage
Pay tribute to the wizard of hockey, Major Dhyan Chand
Integrate the Olympic values into the celebration
Unite the nation with a shared vision of honesty, ambition, and teamwork
Promote physical activity, inclusivity, and team spirit through fun and competitive sports
Connect the general public with sports and fitness
