Cybercrime-A Major Challenge of Our Times, Requiring Awareness and Technological Expertise: CM Sai

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai inaugurated the state-level Cyber Building at the Police Headquarters in Nava Raipur today.

Highlighting the challenges posed by cybercrime, he stressed the importance of awareness and technological expertise in combating this modern menace.

“Cybercrime is one of the biggest challenges of our time, and awareness coupled with technological proficiency is crucial to prevent it,” said CM Sai, underlining the state government’s proactive measures, including the inauguration of the Cyber Building as a significant step forward.

The Chief Minister mentioned the 410 public awareness programs organized in October, which reached over 2.3 million people with vital information about cyber security. He emphasized that public awareness campaigns are the cornerstone of efforts to curb cybercrime.

Commending the police department’s achievements, CM Sai noted their recent success in apprehending a major gang involved in cryptocurrency and stock trading fraud. This accomplishment, he said, demonstrated the Chhattisgarh Police’s capability to effectively track and counter cybercriminals.

He also mentioned partnerships with IIT Bhilai and IIM Raipur to address issues like cybercrime and human trafficking, calling these collaborations a milestone. The Chief Minister lauded UNICEF’s online safety modules for children, recognizing their role in protecting vulnerable groups.

As part of the event, Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed with eight banks to ensure financial assistance for police personnel during emergencies. CM Sai also launched two mobile applications, “Samadhan” and “Sashakt,” developed by the police department to enhance efficiency and public service. Additionally, police officers and staff who excelled in cybercrime investigations were honored for their contributions.

The Chief Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to adopting new technologies and working with greater efficiency to combat cybercrimes. He congratulated all officials and employees for their efforts in this direction.

Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma highlighted the good governance initiatives under CM Vishnu Deo Sai’s leadership, describing the administration as one of the best-performing governments in the country. Referring to the success of the “Mahatari Vandan Yojana,” which has benefited over 7 million people, he noted the government’s determination to ensure equitable benefits for all sections of society.

Dedicating praise to the Chhattisgarh Police, Deputy CM Sharma commended their efforts in limiting Naxalism in the Bastar region, calling it a testament to the government’s strong will and strategic approach. Speaking on cybercrime, he emphasized the special initiatives launched to tackle this growing threat, including the recent cyber awareness fortnight, which educated citizens on safe internet practices.

“The inauguration of the Cyber Building will enable the launch of large-scale operations, setting a new benchmark in the fight against cybercrime,” said Sharma, reaffirming the government’s commitment to good governance and future-oriented decisions that benefit the public.
