Coordinated development of rural and urban areas is necessary for the comprehensive development of Chhattisgarh: CM

Raipur, January 20

With the blessings of Maryada Purushottam Lord Shri Ram, Chhattisgarh is rapidly moving towards becoming a developed state. It has been only thirteen months since our government came into power. In the meantime, we have done many important works of public service with sensitivity, for good governance. He said that since the formation of the government, we have continuously tried to improve the living standards of people in urban and rural areas along with the development of all sections. This has led to the development of infrastructure, sanitation, clean drinking water and increased health facilities in cities and rural areas. Our first year has been dedicated to the development of socially and economically backward people. The state has established new dimensions of development. We are continuously working for the welfare of all sections. Our government has fulfilled most of the guarantees of the successful Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji within a year. Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai said this while addressing the ‘Steps of Urban Development’ program organized at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium.
The Chief Minister said that if there are public representatives with a vision of development, from the head of the country to the village Sarpanch, then the all-round development of Chhattisgarh will be ensured with the basic mantra of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’. He said that there should be coordinated development of villages and urban areas, for which adequate availability of human resources is necessary. There was a long-standing demand regarding compassionate appointment in urban bodies. We have also approved new posts for this after careful consideration. In the ‘Steps of Urban Development’ program, we have distributed the appointment letters for compassionate appointment to 103 posts today. Our endeavor is to increase employment opportunities in the state and make more and more youth self-reliant. Our government has approved 353 posts for compassionate appointment in the Urban Administration and Development Department and various urban bodies.
The Chief Minister said that the foundation stone of 813 works worth Rs 155 crore 38 lakh and the inauguration of 70 works worth Rs 15 crore 25 lakh have just been done here in various urban bodies. Here, we have also laid the foundation stone for water supply schemes to be built at a cost of Rs 270 crore under the Amrit Mission-2.0 in 6 urban bodies – Takhatpur, Ratanpur, Bhanupratappur, Chhuria, Malhar and Khongapani. 20,511 private tap connections will be given in these urban bodies. With this, the resolution of the successful Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji to provide clean drinking water to every household is going to take shape.
Great success is being achieved in urban areas with the participation of all in the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. To encourage cleanliness, we also honor those who do excellent work from time to time. Today, we are honoring 14 urban bodies of the state who have done excellent work in the Clean Toilet Campaign under the ‘Mission Clean City’. Urban bodies like Ambikapur, Chhura, Chhuria, Dongargarh, Korba, Mahasamund, Raipur, Rajnandgaon, Bilaspur, Mandir Hasaud and Chandkhuri etc. are being awarded today. We ourselves feel proud by honoring them.
The Chief Minister said that cleanliness workers have a big contribution in cleaning the cities and doing door-to-door garbage collection. The cleanliness mission is successful only because of their dedication and hard work. Respecting the cleanliness workers encourages their contribution. We ourselves feel honored by respecting them. At present, more than 9 thousand cleanliness workers are working in the urban bodies of the state under the Swachh Bharat Mission. They are given an honorarium of Rs 7200. I am very happy to announce that the honorarium of the cleanliness workers is being increased by Rs 800 today. Now the cleanliness workers will get Rs 8 thousand honorarium every month.
The Chief Minister said that it is the dream of our successful Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji that no Indian should sleep under the open sky. Every citizen should have a pucca house. As per Modi ji’s guarantee, as soon as our government was formed in Chhattisgarh on December 13, we took the first decision in the first cabinet meeting on December 14, 2023 to approve 18 lakh Pradhan Mantri Awas. We are getting full cooperation from the double engine government for the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. In the past days, Union Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan gave us a large number of Pradhan Mantri Awas in Durg. He has also approved 3 lakh additional houses for the next financial year. The survey work has started in Pradhan Mantri Awas 2024 Plus Yojana. Now its benefit will also be available to those who have two-wheelers. Those who have up to two and a half acres of irrigated and up to five acres of unirrigated land will also get the benefit of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Those whose monthly income is up to Rs 15 thousand will also get the benefit of the scheme. The Government of India has made online and easy survey arrangements for this. Now you can register for eligibility sitting at home through mobile app.

Our government has made special arrangements at the fair site so that the pilgrims of Chhattisgarh can also take advantage of it. Whatever devotees are going to Mahakumbh from our state. There are good arrangements for their stay there. Food and snacks have also been arranged. We are inviting all of you to take a bath in Mahakumbh.
Our government has made a provision to give Rs 10 thousand under the Deendayal Upadhyay Landless Laborer Scheme to more than five lakh landless laborers of the state, which is a guarantee of Modi ji. A large number of mothers and sisters are present in today’s program. This is proof that one thousand rupees each are coming into their account every month. This has strengthened women empowerment.
