Continuous Learning is Key to Effective Role of Public Representatives: CM Sai

There may be differences of opinion among us, but there should be no ill-feelings. This has always been the case with the members of the Chhattisgarh Assembly. The development of Chhattisgarh is our primary objective, and as public representatives, we must always work selflessly for the welfare of the people of our state.
These remarks were made by Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai while addressing the inaugural session of the two-day Public Leadership Program held at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Raipur, for the members of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly.
There is No Age for Learning; Constant Improvement in Leadership Skills is Necessary
Chief Minister Shri Sai mentioned that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi often talks about the importance of continuous learning in his Mann Ki Baat program, and indeed, there is no age for learning. He said, There are many legislators here with extensive experience as public representatives, yet they are highly enthusiastic about this program. Shri Sai added that the presence of all the members proves their concern and enthusiasm for the development of Chhattisgarh.
He emphasized that as public representatives, their behavior with the common people is their biggest asset, which strengthens the trust in them and the parliamentary system.
Training Program Useful for Sharing Innovative Solutions and Achieving the Goal of a Developed Chhattisgarh by 2047
The Chief Minister stated that this Public Leadership Program provides a strong platform for sharing innovative solutions, which will be useful and meaningful in achieving the goal of a developed Chhattisgarh by 2047. He also shared the efforts made by the Chhattisgarh Government to establish the concept of good governance. He pointed out that the implementation of e-office has enhanced both administrative efficiency and transparency. He emphasized the importance of being equally prepared to face all challenges if the state is to progress. The use of technology for the public good was also highlighted.
The Chief Minister also praised the reflection camp organized last year at the Indian Institute of Management, calling it highly useful. He shared that the lessons learned during that camp have been applied extensively in policy-making in Chhattisgarh. From the vision document to budget preparation, it has provided significant assistance. He encouraged all members of the Assembly to take full advantage of the two-day session and wished the Institute success in organizing the event.
Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh’s Address
Addressing the leadership program, Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh praised the active participation of all members during the budget session of the Chhattisgarh Assembly, which lasted nearly a month, and their immediate presence in this two-day program. He said, You may be wondering why we need training after winning the election? After winning, our responsibility and role increase, and thus, we must continue learning. He emphasized that the members must work not just for their constituencies, but for the betterment of Chhattisgarh as a whole.
Dr. Singh stressed the importance of being aware of the surrounding environment, as well as the national and international landscape, to succeed as a public representative. He mentioned that every legislator should be well-versed in even the smallest details about their constituency. He shared various experiences from his tenure as Chief Minister and offered insights on building rapport, engaging with the public, and earning their trust.
Leader of Opposition Dr. Charandas Mahant’s Address
Leader of Opposition Dr. Charandas Mahant stated that it would be a misconception to think that once elected, we automatically become leaders. Becoming a leader is a process, and we must learn it. He shared the story of how a tribal boy from Jashpur became the Chief Minister, illustrating the beauty and strength of democracy. He emphasized that the main objective for everyone is the progress of Chhattisgarh, and moving forward with this goal is necessary.
