Raipur, February 9, 2025: Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai solemnly paid homage to the legendary tribal hero, Amar Shaheed Gundadhur, on the occasion of Bhumkal Diwas, observed on February 10. Reflecting on his indomitable spirit and unparalleled sacrifice, the Chief Minister remarked that Gundadhur’s unwavering resistance against British colonialism in defence of Jal, Jungle and Jameen (Water, Forest, and Land) remains an immortal chapter in India’s history.

Recalling the epochal Bhumkal Uprising of 1910, CM Sai emphasized that February 10 marks the day when the valiant tribal warriors of Bastar, under the resolute leadership of Gundadhur, launched a historic insurrection against British tyranny. In the face of relentless oppression, these fearless revolutionaries waged a courageous battle to safeguard their sovereignty, dignity, and ancestral rights. Their defiance, he noted, was a testament to their unyielding spirit and profound commitment to justice.

Chief Minister Shri Sai asserted that the Bhumkal rebellion transcends regional history, standing as a resplendent symbol of India’s broader freedom struggle. “Gundadhur is not merely a historical figure; he is the embodiment of tribal consciousness, self-respect, and unwavering resistance. His legacy continues to inspire the fight against injustice, exploitation, and subjugation,” he stated.

Reiterating his government’s dedication to preserving this rich heritage, CM Sai pledged to uphold the ideals that Gundadhur championed. “The observance of Bhumkal Diwas is a solemn reminder of our duty to honor this legacy, ensuring that the flame of self-respect, empowerment, and social justice remains eternally radiant,” he affirmed.
