Raipur, September 17
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai will flag off the new Raipur–Rajim–Raipur MEMU passenger service at Rajim railway station on September 18 at 10:30 am. Forest Minister Kedar Kashyap, Food Minister Dayaldas Baghel, Lok Sabha MPs Brijmohan Agrawal and Rupkumari Choudhary, along with MLAs Indrakumar Sahu and Rohit Sahu, will also grace the occasion.
The new Raipur–Rajim–Raipur MEMU passenger service will provide passengers with a more convenient, accessible and affordable travel option. Connectivity from rural areas to the state capital Raipur will become smoother. The service will especially benefit students, working professionals and traders commuting to the capital. With this, direct rail access to Rajim — regarded as the ‘Prayag of Chhattisgarh’ — will also be ensured, giving a further boost to tourism.
According to information received from South East Central Railway’s Raipur Division, the existing Raipur–Abhanpur–Raipur MEMU passenger train is being extended to Rajim. From September 19, 2025, train numbers 68766/68767 Raipur–Rajim–Raipur MEMU passenger will operate daily from both ends — Rajim and Raipur — as per the regular timetable. The train will have a total of eight coaches, comprising six general class compartments and two power cars.
