Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai today paid floral tribute to former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna late Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his death anniversary at his residence in Raipur.

The Chief Minister offered garlands at Vajpayee’s portrait and bowed in reverence. Recalling Vajpayee’s contributions, CM Sai said, “Atalji was the true creator of our state of Chhattisgarh. He had a special bond with Chhattisgarh. By granting statehood to this geographical region, he honored the sentiments of our people, for which he will always be remembered.”

Sai noted that Vajpayee was a multifaceted personality who carved a distinct identity as a journalist, poet, and statesman. Whether as Prime Minister or as Foreign Minister, he left an indelible mark for India on the global stage. During his tenure as Prime Minister, several landmark initiatives transformed rural India – including the expansion of road networks in villages, welfare measures for farmers, and the creation of the Tribal Affairs Ministry. “These historic steps brought visible change to rural life,” Sai said, adding that “Atalji continues to live on in the memories of every citizen of India.”

Chief Minister Shri Sai underlined that Vajpayee was a leader who rose above party politics and earned the affection of all. “Atalji dedicated his life to the glory and prestige of Mother India. I have many cherished memories associated with him, which continue to inspire me,” Sai said. He further added that Vajpayee was a yugpurush who gave the mantra of good governance, and that Chhattisgarh today is moving forward on the same path to ensure development.

CM Shri Sai also pointed out that the state is observing the entire year as Atal Nirman Varsh (Atal Construction Year), with numerous programmes being organized to commemorate Vajpayee’s legacy.
