Raipur, November 25

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai met Union Minister of Railways Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw in New Delhi on November 25. It held an extensive discussion on strengthening rail connectivity, accelerating ongoing projects and ensuring the timely completion of all sanctioned works in Chhattisgarh. The Chief Minister urged that every approved project in the state be implemented in a time-bound manner, so that citizens, industries, and the business community receive better, faster, and safer transport facilities.

Welcoming the points raised by the Chief Minister, the Union Minister stated that the Ministry of Railways is actively working to strengthen and improve connectivity in Chhattisgarh

Chief Minister Shri Sai stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, railway development in Chhattisgarh has gained unprecedented momentum, and the coordinated efforts of the “double-engine government” have ushered the state’s rail network into a “new era of transformation”. He added that the introduction of the Raipur–Jabalpur Express has infused new energy into tourism, trade and education.

He highlighted that the state is set to witness a doubling of its rail network between 2014 and 2030, whereas only 1,100 kilometres of rail lines were added between 1853 and 2014. The twenty-two-fold increase in the state’s railway budget over the past ten years, along with the historic allocation of Rs. 6,925 crore for 2025–26, stands as strong evidence of this transformation achieved under the Prime Minister’s leadership.

Major projects worth more than Rs. 47,447 crore are progressing rapidly across the state. The Kharsia–Nava Raipur–Parmalaksa corridor, the Gevra–Pendra line, the Rawghat–Jagdalpur route, the Kharsia–Dharamjaygarh line and the Bilaspur–Jharsuguda fourth line are set to give a significant boost to Chhattisgarh’s rail network. The Chief Minister informed that under the Amrit Bharat Station Yojana, redevelopment of 32 railway stations—including Raipur, Bilaspur and Durg—is underway at high speed to provide passengers with “world-class facilities”.

Expressing gratitude on behalf of the state’s three crore people, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Railways Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw. He said he is confident that with the combined efforts of the Centre and the State, Chhattisgarh will soon emerge as one of the country’s most significant rail corridors. He added that the expansion of connectivity will give new strength to the state’s industrial, economic, social and tourism potential, ensuring “inclusive and sustainable growth” in the years ahead.

The Principal Secretary to the CM, Shri Subodh Kumar Singh, Secretary Shri Rahul Bhagat, and Commerce & Industries Department Secretary Shri Rajat Kumar were present during the meeting.
