CM Sai Launches New Community Tourism Initiative

Raipur, 14 September

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai today launched a new initiative for community tourism in Jashpur district. From his camp office, the Chief Minister inaugurated the homestay program in five villages of Jashpur — Deobora, Kere, Dangari, Chhichhli, and Ghoghra. Former Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Shri Arjun Munda, was also present as a special guest on the occasion.

Chief Minister Sai stated that the state government is committed to developing tourism as an industry. The Homestay Policy will not only give tourism a new identity but will also provide employment and entrepreneurship opportunities to local youth and communities. He noted that tribal culture, traditions, cuisine, and lifestyle deeply intrigue people from other states and countries. Through homestays, tourists will get the opportunity to stay in villages and experience local culture, religious customs, and simplicity firsthand—an experience that will be truly unforgettable.

The Chief Minister emphasized that this initiative will not only place Jashpur on the tourism map but will also be a significant step toward making local communities self-reliant and preserving their cultural identity.

On this occasion, certificates were distributed to trained “Tourism Mitras” (Tourism Friends). This training, focused on community tourism and homestay development, aims to help transform these villages into eco-tourism destinations.

Speaking at the event, MLA Smt. Raymuni Bhagat said that Makarbhanja Waterfall in Jashpur is among the highest waterfalls in Chhattisgarh, and along with several other waterfalls and scenic locations, it gives the district a unique identity in terms of tourism. MLA Smt. Gomti Sai added that Jashpur is full of natural beauty, and tourists who visit here carry the memories of this place with them for a lifetime.
