CM Sai give directives for protection of paddy from rain

Raipur, December 1
In view of the possibility of rain in Chhattisgarh due to the cyclonic storm Fani in Tamil Nadu, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has directed the officials to take precautionary measures to protect paddy from rain.
Food Minister Dayaldas Baghel has directed the collectors of all districts to make adequate arrangements to protect paddy from rain. Minister Baghel said that procurement of paddy at support price is the top priority of our government. Under the leadership of Chief Minister, a mega paddy procurement campaign has been underway in Chhattisgarh since November 14. So far, 18.09 lakh metric tonnes of paddy has been procured in the state. So far, 3.85 lakh farmers have sold their paddy. Against this paddy procurement, Rs. 3706 crore 69 lakh has been paid to these farmers under the bank linking system. This paddy procurement campaign will continue till January 31, 2025. 27.68 lakh farmers have registered for the Kharif year. This includes 1.45 lakh new farmers. This year, 160 lakh metric tonnes of paddy is estimated to be procured through 2739 procurement centers.
Food Minister Baghel informed that the state government is procuring paddy from registered farmers of the state at the support price with full commitment. Keeping in mind the interests of the farmers, the facility of withdrawing Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 10,000 from micro ATMs has been provided at the procurement centers. Micro ATMs have been made available in all 2058 cooperative societies of the state, which is facilitating the farmers in paying the rent of tractors, tempos, etc. hired for transporting paddy and the wages of laborers. Farmers are very happy with this decision of the Chief Minister. He informed that check posts have been set up to keep special vigil on the borders to prevent illegal inflow and transportation of paddy from other states. A state-level team of senior officers has been constituted for each district to monitor the paddy procurement system, which is continuously monitoring it.
