CM Sai Attends Central Convention of Chandranahu Kurmi Kshatriya Community

Raipur, 1 June

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai stated that the Chandranahu Kurmi Kshatriya community has a glorious history. The community has produced illustrious figures such as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, a valiant ruler, and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who played a key role in the unification of India’s princely states. He said the Chandranahu Kurmi Kshatriya community in Chhattisgarh is not only a symbol of hard work and dignity but also a foundational pillar of the state’s development. The community has significantly contributed to giving direction and progress to Chhattisgarh.

The Chief Minister made these remarks while addressing the Central Convention of the Chandranahu Kurmi Kshatriya Community held in Kolihapuri village of Durg district. Revenue Minister Shri Tankram Verma, MLAs Shri Ajay Chandrakar, Shri Gajendra Yadav, and Shri Lalit Chandrakar were also present as special guests.

Shri Sai noted that most members of the Chandranahu Kurmi Kshatriya community in Chhattisgarh are traditionally farmers and are deeply involved in agriculture. The state government aims to see happiness on every farmer’s face and is continuously working for their welfare. Currently, the “Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan” is being conducted across India, including Chhattisgarh, from 29 May to 12 June 2025. The campaign connects agricultural scientists directly with farmers to spread awareness about modern techniques, government schemes, and successful models. About 100 groups of agricultural scientists are engaging with farmers across Chhattisgarh, promoting organic farming, proper fertilizer use, and the “Soil Health Card”.

The Chief Minister emphasized that farming will be strengthened only when farmers receive fair prices for their produce. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi had promised during the state elections that farmers would receive two years of pending bonuses. Fulfilling this guarantee, the new government transferred the bonus amount directly into farmers’ accounts. In line with Modi’s promise, paddy is now being procured at ₹3,100 per quintal, up to 21 quintals per acre. The recent Kharif season saw a record-breaking 149 lakh metric tonnes of paddy procurement in the state, signaling a growing interest in agriculture among farmers.

The government is also focusing on enhancing irrigation facilities, promoting animal husbandry and fisheries, and increasing milk production. Under this initiative, two milch animals will be provided to each poor family, and their care will be managed by the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB). Infrastructure for milk collection is also being strengthened to ensure farmers face no difficulty selling milk. The CM also announced a millet processing unit in Dantewada to support the cultivation of millets like kodo, kutki, and ragi, which were once considered food for the poor but are now popular among the health-conscious elite.

The Chief Minister highlighted the state’s new industrial policy, which includes provisions tailored to Chhattisgarh’s needs for industrial development. He reiterated his government’s commitment to “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas” (Together with all, Development for all, Trust of all, Effort from all). Numerous welfare schemes have been launched for farmers, women, the elderly, and all segments of society.

Under the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, more than 70 lakh women receive ₹1,000 per month, helping them become self-reliant through activities like sewing, embroidery, and vegetable farming. The Chief Minister Pilgrimage Scheme has been restarted, and over 22,000 devotees have benefited from the Ram Lalla Darshan Scheme.

During his statewide Su-Shasan Tihar tour, the CM visited all 33 districts of Chhattisgarh, monitored schemes at the grassroots, and received direct feedback from citizens. The campaign has received over 40 lakh applications, currently under resolution.

On governance reforms, CM Sai noted the state is moving rapidly towards administrative transparency and digital systems. Instant mutation after land registration has been enabled, and many services are now online to reduce corruption. The government has paid special attention to education, not just as a means of employment but as a tool for social upliftment and nation-building. Major institutions like IIT, IIIT, Law University, and Medical Colleges have been established. Under the New Education Policy, the focus is on providing quality education and shaping responsible citizens.

Praising the Kurmi community, the Chief Minister called it a progressive group of farmers and entrepreneurs, contributing significantly to the development of Chhattisgarh. The community is not only advanced in agriculture and business but also educated and well-organized. He urged all social institutions to actively participate in realizing the vision of a developed Chhattisgarh, emphasizing that a strong community builds a strong nation. “Through education, service, and awareness, we can build a strong society and nation,” he said.

Revenue Minister Shri Tankram Verma, in his address, emphasized that those who unite communities and guide them on the right path are always respected. He stressed the need to instill values in the younger generation.

MLAs Shri Ajay Chandrakar and Shri Lalit Chandrakar, and Chairman of the Seed Development Corporation Shri Chandrhas Chandrakar, also addressed the gathering. In his welcome address, State President of the Chandranahu Kurmi Kshatriya Community Shri Vinod Chandrakar highlighted the objectives of the central convention. The event witnessed the presence of many community officials and a large number of dignitaries.
