Chief Minister Sai extends wishes to sports enthusiasts on National Sports Day

Honours the legacy of Hockey legend Major Dhyanchand on his birthday

Chhattisgarh’s Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai extended his best wishes to the people of Chhattisgarh and sports enthusiasts on National Sports Day observed on August 29.
Shri Sai said that this day is celebrated annually in honour of Major Dhyanchand, widely revered as the “wizard of hockey,” to commemorate his contributions to the sport.
Recalling the contribution of Major Dhyanchand in the field of hockey , Shri Sai said that Dhyanchand ji displayed his amazing sports talent in hockey and is mostly remembered for his goal-scoring feats. He made India proud by winning three gold medals for the country in the Olympics.
Chief Minister Shri Sai said that sports have great significance in life. Sports develop qualities like leadership, dedication, and discipline in one’s personality which help to succeed in every field of life.
The Chief Minister said that the Chhattisgarh government is making every effort to encourage and advance the sports talent of the state. He said that there are immense possibilities in the field of sports for the youth. In Chhattisgarh, international level sports infrastructure has been created, including the formation of Sports Development Authority, to develop players at national and international level.
