Chief Minister Launches Milking Animal Distribution Scheme

Raipur, 01 June
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai today inaugurated the Milking Animal Distribution Scheme under the Dairy Integrated Development Plan from Bhongapal in Kondagaon district. The state-level launch of this significant scheme began with the distribution of milking animals to eight selected tribal beneficiaries.
With assistance from the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), this scheme is being implemented as a pilot project through the Chhattisgarh State Cooperative Dairy Federation Limited. Under the scheme, a total of 650 milking animals will be distributed to 325 Scheduled Tribe (ST) women beneficiaries across six districts: Jashpur, Balrampur, Kanker, Kondagaon, Mahasamund, and Sarangarh-Bilaigarh.
The scheme aims to promote dairy entrepreneurship in Scheduled Areas, empower women through self-employment, and improve the economic and social standards of tribal families. It is also expected to significantly boost milk production in the region.
Notably, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between NDDB, the Government of Chhattisgarh, and the Chhattisgarh State Cooperative Dairy Federation Limited in the presence of Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah and Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai. The MoU focuses on expanding dairy cooperatives, creating a sustainable dairy ecosystem, and enriching farmers and livestock owners through improved milk production and marketing.
As part of this initiative, efforts are being undertaken in the selected pilot districts to:
Enhance the distribution and availability of milk and dairy products,
Improve animal breeding, health, and nutrition for higher productivity,
Strengthen milk processing infrastructure,
Provide training and build capacity for farmers and dairy workers.
Under the scheme, farmers and livestock owners will receive high-quality, high-yielding breeds of milking cows.
The launch event was attended by several dignitaries, including Industries Minister Shri Lakhanlal Dewangan, Forest Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap, MP Shri Mahesh Kashyap, MLAs Ms. Lata Usendi and Shri Neelkanth Tekam, Buddhist spiritual leader Bhante Arya Nagarjuna Surai Sasai, Shri Anil Khobragade (Coordinator, Buddha Mahotsav), and a large number of followers from the Buddhist community and other eminent personalities.
