Chief Minister Inspects Siddhababa Irrigation Reservoir Project Under Construction at a Cost of ₹220 Crore

On his tour for the Good Governance Festival, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, after the ‘Samadhan Shivir’ (Solution Camp) in Sitagaon, reached Gabhra village in Khairagarh-Chhuikhadan-Gandai district by helicopter. He inspected the Siddhababa Irrigation Reservoir project under construction near the village at a cost of ₹220 crore. This irrigation reservoir will provide irrigation facilities to approximately four and a half thousand farmers in 34 villages. The reservoir will irrigate 1840 hectares in Kharif and 1380 hectares in Rabi crops.
Chief Minister Shri Sai inspected the reservoir site and instructed the concerned officials to accelerate construction work and pay special attention to quality. The Chief Minister said that “This reservoir will not only be a means of increasing farmers’ income but also a strong basis for the social and economic development of this region. Our government is committed to providing water to every farmer.” On this occasion, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Shri Subodh Kumar Singh, along with senior administrative officers, public representatives, and a large number of villagers, were present.
It is noteworthy that this reservoir will extend irrigation facilities to 34 villages across three districts: Gabhra, Kotrichhapar, Dodia, Vicharpur, Bundeli, Murai, Khairi, Sitadbari, Kotra, Salhekala in Khairagarh-Chhuikhadan-Gandai; Patharjhori, Chichanmeta, Jano, Rano, Gadadih, Sondbari in Bemetara district; and Agarkala, Agarkhurd, Salhekhurd, Nawagaon in Durg district.
In addition, farmers in the submergence area will also be able to cultivate Rabi crops and vegetables on 120 hectares of land. The reservoir has the potential for annual fish production of 498 quintals, which will provide employment to 200 villagers. The groundwater level in the area will increase, which will also reduce water scarcity for domestic use and drinking. Water supply to a total of 23 existing small reservoirs will also be ensured by this project. These include 13 reservoirs in Chhuikhadan block, 7 reservoirs in Saja, and 3 reservoirs in Dhamdha.
