Chief Minister Greets People on Occasion of Cherchera Festival

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has extended his greetings and best wishes to the people of the state on the occasion of the famous folk festival of Chhattisgarh, Cherchera. On this occasion, he has wished for the happiness, prosperity, and well-being of the people of the state.
In his congratulatory message issued on the eve of the Cherchera festival, Shri Sai has said that the Cherchera festival is celebrated with great pomp and gaiety in Chhattisgarh on the full moon day of Paush month to celebrate the arrival of the new crop. It is believed that donating on this day ensures that there is no shortage of food and wealth in homes.
Shri Sai said that the Cherchera festival, celebrated as a festival of great donations and harvest, is a carrier of our social harmony, philanthropy, and rich glorious tradition. On this day, Mata Shakambhari Jayanti is also celebrated. According to mythological belief, on this day Lord Shankar had begged for alms from Mata Annapurna, hence people also donate vegetables, fruits along with rice.
