Chhattisgarh’s development journey is progressing with the mantra of health to prosperity. Today Chhattisgarh is becoming a major center of medical tourism. There was a time when people used to go to Delhi-Mumbai for the treatment of many serious diseases. Today, the service-minded doctors of Raipur city are treating even the most serious diseases. From heart and kidney transplants to diseases like cancer, treatment with state-of-the-art technology is being done in the hospitals of Raipur.
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai said this today during the oath-taking ceremony of the Indian Medical Association.
Chief Minister Shri Sai said that the state government is making every possible effort to provide better medical facilities to the citizens. Along with providing better resources, necessary infrastructure, doctors and medical staff are being recruited to strengthen the medical system from primary health centers to district hospitals. Our government has implemented Shaheed Veernarayan Singh Health Scheme along with Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana for the expansion of health facilities in the state. Under the Ayushman scheme, poor families and citizens of all sections above 70 years of age are being given the facility of free treatment up to five lakh rupees and APL families are being given the facility of free treatment up to 50 thousand rupees. Apart from this, assistance is also being given from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for the treatment of complex diseases.
Chief Minister Shri Sai said that there are a total of 14 medical colleges in Chhattisgarh, including 10 government and 4 private medical colleges.
The construction of buildings for four new medical colleges is underway in the state. With the establishment of medical colleges in Janjgir Champa, Kabirdham, Manendragarh and Geedam, health services will expand. A large number of people are also coming to Chhattisgarh from abroad for treatment. This is a matter of pride for us. He said that organizations like IMA can play an important role in becoming the voice of doctors as well as strengthening the relationship between doctors and patients.
Addressing the program, Health Minister Shri Shyam Bihari Jaiswal said that work is being done to make health services accessible and strong in Chhattisgarh. We will be successful in taking Chhattisgarh to new heights in the field of medicine only with the cooperation and dedication of the doctors.
He said that the government has increased the financial rights to improve the medical facilities in the medical colleges of the state. Highlighting the achievements of the state in the field of medical service and medical education, he said that Chhattisgarh is the leading state in the country in sickle cell screening. Here, 1 crore 29 lakh people have been screened. Sickle cell research institute will be established in the state and bone marrow transplant facility will be started. For this, Rs 48 crore has been approved. He assured IMA Raipur that the government will provide all possible cooperation in the works of doctors and public interest. Former MLA Dr. Vimal Chopra also addressed the program.
Newly elected president of IMA Dr. Kuldeep Solanki said that all possible cooperation will be given from the association for the expansion of medical service and medical education in the state. He said that IMA will fulfill the responsibility of coordination between the government and the medical service provider with full commitment. MLAs Sarvshri Purandar Mishra, Sunil Soni, IMA Chhattisgarh President Dr. Prabhat Pandey, Dr. Purnendu Saxena and a large number of doctors were present in the program.
